Morning Service Options - Paramount and Sanctuary Services Morning Services at the Paramount Theater
These services are held at the Paramount Theater in downtown Oakland and are led by Rabbi Chester, Rabbi Mates-Muchin, Rabbi Berlin and Cantor Keys. The service runs about 2 - 2 ½ hours long. The music is led by our Cantor and the Professional Choir with organ accompaniment. The music of the service is mostly High Holyday melodies mixed with some Shabbat style melodies and folk songs. Congregational participation is strongly encouraged. The service is led from the Gates of Repentance, the High Holyday prayer book of the Reform movement, and our past Bar and Bat Mitzvah students read Torah at this service. “Paramount Services” are offered for Rosh HaShana evening and morning, and Yom Kippur evening and morning.
Morning Services at Temple Sinai’s Sanctuary
These services are held in the Temple Sanctuary. Rosh HaShana will be led by Rabbi Berlin and Yom Kippur will be led by Rabbi Mates-Muchin. Song leader Isaac Zones will co-lead both services. The services will be approximately 2 hours long. Families with children are welcome to attend with all attendees under the age of 18 accompanied by an adult family member. There will be a short sermon given by the rabbi, and musical accompaniment will be guitar only. There will be no choir or organ. The music of the service will be some High Holyday melodies mixed with some more familiar Shabbat type melodies. Congregational participation will be strongly encouraged. This service will be more informal than our service at the Paramount Service. A special service booklet will be compiled by the clergy for this service.
