You may know there are ducks at Lake Merritt, but what KIND of ducks? Learn about Buffleheads, Scaups, Ruddy Ducks, Goldeneyes and other winter visitors on this gentle walk led by Golden Gate Bird Alliance instructor Maureen Lahiff and WTS member Ilana DeBare. In addition to viewing the lake’s water birds, we’ll look for songbirds in the nearby gardens and learn some history about the lake, the “crown jewel of Oakland."

Beginners are welcome; no experience is needed. We'll do our birdwatching along wheelchair-accessible paved paths. If you own binoculars, please bring them. If you need to borrow a pair, please indicate that when you register. The exact meeting spot will be sent to registered participants a few days before the event. (If this event is rained out, we'll reschedule for Sunday January 19.)
