Join us for a congregation-wide event at Temple Sinai to celebrate Shavuot! The schedule is as follows:

5:15 – 6:30pm: Dinner, Kids’ Activities and Hearing The 10 Commandments (Fun For All Ages)

Bring your own dinner or buy a pizza for your family for $20. We will provide salad and water. In addition, there will be ice cream treats. Beginning around 5:40 there will be activities for kids including an arts and crafts table, Israeli dancing, and a song session. At 6:15, we will invite everyone to join together to hear the 10 commandments chanted from the Torah! 6:30 – 7:45pm: Lights, Camera, Judaism (Teens and Adults) Join Rabbis Mates-Muchin, Bressler and Freedman to view clips of and discuss a few recent films that aim to portray Jewish life. Together, we will evaluate each movie’s attempt to portray Jewish life and think about the impact it might have on opinions and perspectives about Jewish people in our society. 7:45 – 8:15pm Break with Dessert and Coffee 8:15 – 9:45pm A Jewish Life of Kavanah, A Spiritual Life With Meaning (Adults) Would you like to enhance your spiritual Jewish life? Judaism is filled with many important mitzvot (commandments) such as visiting the sick and burying the dead. In this session, taught remotely by Rabbi Steven Moss, we will see how 17th century Kabbalistic wisdom can empower us to develop Kavanot (intentions) for mitzvot which can serve to activate their spiritual energies. No prior knowledge is required, and this learning will include a brief introduction to kabbalah.
