Special Havdalah Hike with Naturalist Naomi Stein
Join Naomi Stein in an exploration of the plants used as besamim (spices) during Havdalah. We'll talk about the intent and meaning behind the use of spice in the Havdalah ritual, learn about the different plants used by Jews in different times and places and smell a number of divine plants!
Naomi Stein is a Jewish ethnoherbalist, (also a former Temple Sinai Preschool Mom and a longtime People of the Book volunteer). She is engaged in primary source research with local Shoah survivors. She's taught at Urban Adamah, the Northern California Women's Herbalist Symposium, as well as synagogues, JCC's, etc. She is currently teaching a Zoom series about Jewish Magic with Rabbi Jonathan Siedel through the Aquarian Minyan, next she will co-teaching a class about making herbal infused oils for Hanukkah with the Sephardic herbalist Naomi Spector. If you would like to join her waiting list, please write jewishherbalist@gmail.com
