Do you sometimes have difficulty recalling familiar words or the names of acquaintances?  Do you forget where you left the car keys? Are you worried these are signs of dementia?

As people age changes occur in the brain that can effect overall brain health and brain function.  In this talk Dr. Luxenberg will discuss the changes seen in healthy brains as we get older and distinguish them from unhealthy conditions such as dementia.

Dr. Luxenberg will also explain how certain conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease can affect the brain and steps we can take to reduce risk and slow decline.  Topics will include diet, sleep and social and intellectual activities.  Dr. Luxenberg hopes that by understanding the factors that contribute to healthy brain aging we can take steps to maintain cognitive function and overall brain health as we age.
