Featuring Oakland’s MACRO Program 
There are many occasions when a person on the street is experiencing a behavioral health issue or there is concern for their mental health or well-being that is not an immediate emergency. Who can you call? In Oakland, you can call MACRO (Mobile Assistance Community Responders of Oakland), an alternative response program in the Oakland Fire Department (OFD) for nonemergency, nonviolent, “quality of life” calls for service. Our speaker will be Joseph Barral of the OFD who will tell us about this compassionate program that helps people get help without involving the emergency response system. Temple Sinai members help MACRO by providing lunches to be given to individuals who are desperate for a meal.

We especially hope that folks who have been involved with social action and social justice programs at Temple Sinai will join us as we will offer a special blessing of gratitude to all those who participate in these programs during the service.
