Wise Aging Presents—Doulas: Companions for the Dying and their Loved Ones

Sunday, February 2, 2025 4 Sh'vat 5785

1:00 PM - 3:00 PMZoom

Death Doulas: What are they? How do they differ from Hospice? What's a Jewish Death doula? Zoe Goldblatt, a leader in the Bay Area Death Doula community, will provide an introduction to this idea.

End of Life Doulas work with a dying person, their loved ones, and paid caregivers at any point following a terminal diagnosis, and especially in the last months of life to support them emotionally, spiritually, and physically. The End of Life Doula will also provider information to help the dying person and others make choices about, or understand the nature of the dying process. In this session, you’ll meet someone who has been working in the field as a Doula for the past seven years in the East Bay, and have the opportunity to engage and ask questions.

Zoë Francesca Goldblatt trained with INELDA, the International End Of Life Doula Association in 2017 and co-founded the East Bay End of Life Doula Network in 2018. She also works as an Activity Therapist for people living with dementia, and their care partners. She trained as a Spiritual Care Provider with the Bay Area Jewish Healing Center and is now a board member and facilitator at the AriYael Jewish Healing Center. Zoë is a regular teacher for the Shomer Collective’s Jewish Doula Meetup and collaborates with other Jewish Doulas in the Bay Area to serve Jewish families and individuals.
