Wise Aging Speaker: Linda Thal—ZOOM

Sunday, July 11, 2021 2 Av 5781

1:00 PM - 2:30 PMZoom

It’s being called a “Longevity Revolution”: twenty-five or even thirty years of health and vitality added to the human life span. How shall we use them? Psalm 90 advises us to make them count in order to obtain a “heart of wisdom.” What does that mean? How would we go about that? Those are the questions that generated Wise Aging, the book and the program. We look at growing older as an uphill rather than a downhill slope, albeit a sometimes rocky one. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel taught that later life is “the age of opportunity for inner growth.” Wise Aging groups offer a setting, companions and a guide for exploring the ways we can continue to grow and to shape the world in which we live.

Linda is co-author of “Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit,” written with Rabbi Rachel Cowan. She facilitates ongoing Wise Aging groups in New York and Los Angeles, and designed and conducts the national Wise Aging Facilitator Program, which has trained close to 600 facilitators.

Linda was co-founding director of the Yedidya Center for Jewish Spiritual Direction and its Morei Derekh training program. She teaches workshops and retreats, and offers scholar-in-residence programs nationally and internationally.
