Wise Aging Presents: Understanding Cognitive Challenges

Are you wondering how you can enjoy being a part of community life if you are diagnosed with a cognitive disorder? Dr. Jim Mittelberger, MD, MPH will draw on decades of experience working with and for seniors to discuss these and other issues related to the aging brain. The topics for this presentation include:
- Understanding different types of cognitive disorders,
- Supporting brain health, and
- Living with dignity and connection if diagnosed with a cognitive problem.
James Mittelberger, MD, MPH, is a nationally recognized physician leader who has dedicated his 30+ year career to the care of vulnerable patients across the continuum of care from hospital to home.
Dr. Mittelberger is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Currently Dr. Mittelberger is chief medical officer at Center for Independent Living. His roles have included Medical Director of the Over 60's Clinic; 20 years as Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at Highland Hospital in Oakland; and building innovative geriatric, palliative care, and hospice programs.
